Where it began
A mower.
A garage.
A reason to work.
Matt Potts started cutting grass to provide for his family. When the bank asked for a company name, he chose his daughter’s: Lex.
The business began in his mother’s garage. Matt kept it going through changes in his working life before giving it his full attention. The name stayed, and so did the lawn-care foundation.
How the company grew
Good people.
More possibilities.
For a time, Matt referred landscape jobs to other companies. A longtime team member encouraged him to look again at the work they could do together. That helped Lex grow beyond mowing.
Lex later brought established turf-care and irrigation businesses into the company. Snow removal grew from customers asking for one company to handle their property through the seasons. Each step added skills, people and more ways to help.

Matt built Lex from his own lawn-care work and remains hands-on in the business. He speaks with pride about the team around him, the customers who have stayed and the work they have learned to take on together.

Rob Davis
Rob brings 20 years of facilities experience with Floyd County Schools to his role at Lex. His practical background helps the team understand the demands of larger properties and day-to-day upkeep.
